New "Come, Follow Me" Lesson Helps on LDS Living in 2019

With changes in Church curriculum and an emphasis on home-study, LDS Living will be presenting a new set of digestible lesson helps geared to aid families, couples, and singles in their efforts to implement this new way of learning the gospel at home.

The Come, Follow Me manual shares this reminder from Elder David A. Bednar as part of the study topic for the first week of the year, "We Are Responsible for Our Own Learning":

“As learners, you and I are to act and be doers of the word and not simply hearers who are only acted upon. Are you and I agents who act and seek learning by faith, or are we waiting to be taught and acted upon? … A learner exercising agency by acting in accordance with correct principles opens his or her heart to the Holy Ghost and invites His teaching, testifying power, and confirming witness. Learning by faith requires spiritual, mental, and physical exertion and not just passive reception” (“Seek Learning by Faith,” Ensign, Sept. 2007, 64).

We hope you will join us this year in our efforts to individualize our gospel learning. Whether you use our weekly postings as a reminder to check out your Come, Follow Me manual each week or simply want a few different ideas and resources, here’s what you can expect each week:

- The list of assigned scripture readings

- Links to the Church’s Bible videos that correspond with the assigned reading

- A scriptural insight explaining a word, practice, or scholarly fact about the reading assignment, to help you in your personal study

- A list of ideas for studying that can be used for family home evening lessons, study groups, or individual learning.

So grab your scriptures, a pen, and a notebook, and tune in to LDS Living every Friday for videos, insights, and ideas to enhance your home family study this year.
