Memorial Day, the special time we remember loved ones, is a tender day for me. While I have often wanted to join in the traditional drive to the cemetery, my family and I live hours away from where family members are buried, thus making such visits rare. Last year however, we were blessed with a very special experience.
My husband’s parents asked if we could travel to Salt Lake City and pick them up at the airport. As we figured out the logistics of the trip, I was prompted with the idea that if we timed things right, we could visit my grandmother’s and grandfather’s graves. I was very excited about the idea, especially since it was close to Memorial Day.
