BYU signs 6-foot-7 female athlete to play basketball and volleyball

The Cougars signed on Pleasant Grove’s 6-foot-7 Jennifer Hamson to play for the Cougars come Fall 2010. Hamson is currently ranked No. 98 by ESPN Hoopgurlz.  She is one of the most dominant centers in the country and one of the tallest players in state history.

“She was recruited heavily, one of the top 100 kids in the country, one of the top 20 the posts in country. She learned really quick on the club circuit. She’s gifted; she’s a rare breed,” said Adam Barrett, head coach of the Utah Swoosh.

Hamson was recruited by the University of Utah, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Louisville but she chose BYU for personal reasons.

“I wanted to be close to my family and be in a good environment,” Hamson said.

Hamson will not only bring her skill to BYU but will add an exciting aspect to BYU basketball. She can dunk.
