A group of South Jordan teenagers lost most of their possessions but were unharmed when the bus taking them to Martin's Cove in Wyoming caught fire Tuesday.

The teenagers left early Tuesday morning for Martin's Cove for a Mormon pioneer trek re-enactment. About 33 miles past Rock Springs, Wyo., on eastbound I-80, a person driving behind the charter bus noticed smoke coming from the bus around 12:30 p.m.

All of the teens and youth leaders were able to exit the bus safely, but there was no time to remove backpacks, sleeping bags or other possessions before flames engulfed the charter bus. Sweetwater County Fire District responded, but the bus was a total loss.
