Camp Impeesa commemorates 100 years of LDS Scouting in Alberta

Approximately 3300 Church of Latter Day Saints Scouts, Venturers, Leaders, volunteers, and organizers attended Camp Impeesa during the first week of July, commemorating 100 years of Latter-day Saint (LDS) sponsored Scouting in Alberta.

The first Mormon Scout troop was established January, 1911 in the Cardston area hamlet of Aetna. The Mormon Church has become one of the largest sponsors of scouting in the world.

Camp Impeesa is located within the Castle Special Area Wilderness near Beaver Mines and Castle Mountain, about a 40 minute drive southwest of Pincher Creek. With a Table Mountain backdrop, access to Beaver Mines Lake, a huge trail network, woods, and a definite sense of isolation, it is both a beautiful and challenging place.
