Church Announces 1 New Stake, 14 New Stake Presidents in April

From Nicaragua to Utah and South Africa to the Philippines, learn more about the new stake presidents called around the world.

New stake

A new stake has been created from the Matagalpa Nicaragua District. The Matagalpa Nicaragua Stake, which consists of the La Dalia, San Ramon and Yaguare branches and the Guanuca, Jinotega, Matagalpa and Totolate wards, was created by Elder Kevin R. Duncan, General Authority Seventy, and Elder Ricardo Valldares, an Area Seventy.

MATAGALPA NICARAGUA STAKE: (Jan. 22, 2017) President — Donald Ernesto Luquez Noguera, 49, owner and manager, Cooperative for Micro-enterprises; wife, Flor de Martía Escorcia Luquez. Counselors — Bismark Roberto Mendoza Altamirano, 41, owner and manager, Chicker Store; wife, Elieta del Carmen Picado Mendoza. Jony Uriel Cantarero Blandón, 30, construction project supervisor.

Reorganized stakes

AHUACHAPÁN EL SALVADOR STAKE: (Nov. 13, 2016) President — Roque Arturo Zaldaña Olivares, 42, principal, Marken Language Academy; succeeding Nestor H. Zamora Diaz; wife, Janeth Julieta Slainas Padilla. Counselors — Juan Bautista Ramírez Mata, 50, carpenter; wife, Luz de Maria González de Ramírez. Santiago Antonio Bonilla Morán, 36, steward, Hacienda San Luis Bonanza; wife, Glenda Maritza Fuentes Zaldaña.

BOUNTIFUL UTAH STONE CREEK STAKE: (Jan. 22, 2017) President — Matthew Jered Willey, 44, attorney; succeeding Douglas H. Martin; wife, Christa Jacobson Willey. Counselors — Todd Kent Hilton, 54, IT manager, 1-800 Contact; wife, Pamela Sue Criddle Hilton. Bryce G. Bangerter, 49, self-employed, Bountiful Family Cleaners; wife, Jolinne Heaps Bangerter.
