Church Announces 4 Temples to Close for 2+ Years for Renovations

Four temples—the Tokyo Japan Temple, Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, Memphis Tennessee Temple, and Asunción Paraguay Temple—are expected to close this year for renovations, according to Mormon Newsroom.

The Toyko Japan, Oklahoma City Oklahoma, and Memphis Tennessee temples are scheduled to close in October 2017 while the Asunción Paraguay Temple will close in November. 

The renovations are to help "maintain functionality, efficiency, and beauty" according to Mormon Newsroom, and all temples will receive mechanical upgrades and updated furnishings and finishes.

According to Mormon Newsroom, the renovations for the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, Memphis Tennessee Temple, and Asunción Paraguay Temple are expected to be complete in 2019 while the renovations for the Toyko Japan Temple is projected to be completed in 2020.

Once the renovations are complete, open houses and rededications dates will be announced.
