The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the rendering and the date for the groundbreaking of the Puebla Mexico Temple.
Elder Arnulfo Valenzuela, Mexico area president, will preside at the event on Saturday, November 30, 2019.
Attendance at the site will be by invitation only. It is anticipated that the services will be transmitted via internet to stake centers within the proposed temple district. Additional information will be announced as the date of the groundbreaking approaches.
The temple was announced in October 2018 by President Russell M. Nelson. The Puebla Mexico Temple, once complete, will be the country’s 14th temple. There are 209 temples throughout the world that are operating, undergoing construction or being renovated, or that have been announced.
Latter-day Saint temples differ from the meetinghouses or chapels where members meet for Sunday worship services. A temple is considered a “house of the Lord” where Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other ordinances that unite families for eternity. Inside, members learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to serve Jesus Christ and their fellow man.
