Kyle Van Noy, a key linebacker recruit from the 2009 BYU football recruiting class, has had his share of trials since officially committing in January.
Van Noy committed his second alcohol-related offense shortly before signing day. This led BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall to decide that Van Noy would not be able to join the team until January 2010.
“He told me it’s not going to be exactly what you want, but it’s what will be the best for us in the long run,” Van Noy said. “It was a wake-up call.”
Van Noy realized he had to get serious about his future, and since that time has been working hard in preparing to become a Cougar.
“Bronco told me to be the best person I can be, so that’s what I have been trying to do,” Van Noy said.
