Denton, Texas: Family of Year

The Kurt and M'Lisa Hansen family — which includes, Aaron 23 (and his wife Heather); M'Lisa Elizabeth, 22; Rebecca, 20; Andrew, 15; Michael, 15; and Noah, 13 — was selected as the 2011 Greater Denton Family of the Year.

Sponsored by City of Denton Parks and Recreation, the Kiwanis Noon Club and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the mission of the program is to recognize and honor those families residing in the greater Denton area who exemplify the values of love, respect, harmony and service, and who actively support their schools, churches, communities.

This program was founded 13 years ago by the late Betty Martino, a former member of the Aubrey Ward of the Denton Texas Stake, as a way to promote families, bring them to the attention of the general public and present them as examples worthy of emulation by others.

The Hansens do most things together as a family — eating meals, watching movies, cooking, vacations, attending Church. They like to support one another by attending school plays, choir performances and sports activities.
