Early-returning LDS Missionaries Focus of New Study

A new study by researchers at Utah Valley University says that an early return for missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is often accompanied by feelings of failure. Kris Doty, chairwoman of the Department of Behavioral Science at Utah Valley University headed up a team of students for the study, which looked at the experiences of former LDS missionaries who returned early from their missions for various reasons. Most came home for mental health or medical reasons, she found.
