Elder David A. Bednar: Servant, apostle

Editor's note: Each weekend, members of the Quorum of the Twelve apostles visit stakes around the world. This week, Mormon Times columnist Jason Wright shares his thoughts on an apostle's recent visit to his stake in Virginia. It had been just another cold Thursday night in January, just another stake priesthood executive committee meeting, nothing more than a regularly scheduled opportunity to conduct stake business, discuss callings and receive training from our beloved stake president.

Then, in an instant, it wasn’t.

As we concluded, President Randall Bartlett, president of the Winchester Virginia Stake, announced that Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve would be visiting and presiding at our stake conference in March.
