Tests, temptations, and trails are natural parts of our earthly experience and daily life. Sometimes, we may even feel so burdened by our troubles it feels impossible to keep going. But one sure way to become comforted and strengthened is to rely on the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

In a recent Facebook post, Elder Rasband shared how he and his family were able to rely on the Atonement in the midst of their tests and trials.

Several years ago, we had a grandson born with a rare genetic disorder. Paxton suffered from many health problems. This trial was hard for my family physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
I know many of you have experienced similar trials in your own life. At these moments, we can turn to the great plan of happiness authored by our Heavenly Father. That plan, when presented in the pre-earth life, prompted us all to shout for joy. Put simply, this life is training for eternal exaltation, and that process means tests and trials. It has always been so, and no one is spared.
For our family, the journey that followed Paxton’s birth was a crucible for learning special lessons tied to the eternities. During his short three years on earth, we learned the importance of drawing upon the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Though we will face trials, adversities, disabilities, heartaches, and all manner of afflictions, our caring, loving Savior will always be there for us.
