Below is a family home evening plan that can be used along with the suggestions in the Come, Follow Me manual to help families focus on the message of Christ’s resurrection. Also, don't miss a great week of Easter videos from our friends Emily Freeman and David Butler! The videos will be posted on LDS Living every day leading up to Easter. You can find them here.

Lesson

Use the book Celebrating a Christ-Centered Christmas by Emily Belle Freeman and David Butler, illustrated by Ryan Jeppesen. Here is just a bit of it to get you started.

He was coming! The news spread quickly through the streets of Jerusalem. Everyone began to gather. Even the children came. When the streets became too crowded, they climbed onto the garden walls and stood upon the housetops. No one wanted to miss the coming of the King. As they waited, they helped prepare the royal welcome. Some cut down palm branches to wave in the air, while others lined the dusty path with their cloaks. As they worked, their excitement filled the afternoon with joy.
Finally, a humble man dressed in common robes quietly rode in on a small gray donkey, passing under the Eastern gate. All at once, a great cheer went up from the crowd. Waving their palm branches, they welcomed Him with loud shouts of Hosanna.
As the man rode through the crowds and entered into Jerusalem, all the city watched and wondered. If you listened closely, you could hear some of the people asking, “Who is this man?”
Those in the crowd who had experienced His love turned to them and replied, “This is Jesus.”
On the first Easter, people found ways to celebrate Jesus. Could you?

Activity

Cut down a large tree branch and put it in a vase with water, or use construction paper or crayons to create a palm branch. Place it where you can see it every day until Easter.
