How 7 Famous Mormons Share Their Faith on Social Media

32077.jpg

From Billboard-charting artists and New York Times best-selling authors to sports legends and political and business giants, there's no doubt Mormons are making an impact on the world.

But how do these Latter-day Saint celebrities use their influence to impact others?

Many of them have taken the words of prophets and apostles to heart by sharing their faith openly and genuinely on social media.

As Elder Dallin H. Oaks sohumorously remarked, these faithful members are "loos[ing] their thumbs" along with their tongues in sharing what matters most to them.

It doesn't always have to be profound—sometimes the littlest things count the most. Whether it's a missionary homecoming, a memory, a picture of the temple, or a quote from general conference, every way we share our faith matters.

And as we start sharing our testimonies more through social media, we'll better understand what President Dieter F. Uchtdorf meant when he said, “With the blessings of modern technology, we can express gratitude and joy about God’s great plan for His children in a way that can be heard . . . around the world. Sometimes a single phrase of testimony can set events in motion that affect someone’s life for eternity.”

So if you struggle with sharing your faith online, here are a few great examples of how you can be yourself while still infusing faith and goodness in what you post and share.

Donny Osmond

In another Facebook post, Donny Osmond added:

This is one of my favorite weekends of the year. I always come away from #LDSConf with answers to some of my heart's deepest questions and an extra measure of comfort, faith and courage. Join us for LDS General Conference: lds.org.

Along with the following video, Donny Osmond shared this sweet message:

Last night our youngest son, Josh, opened his mission call from the LDS church. He's going to Rome, Italy!! We are so excited. All five of my sons have served in Europe. In fact, my son, Jeremy went to Italy on his mission back in 2000. When Josh read the letter, the room erupted with pure joy. You've got to see this video.

He's so excited to learn Italian and have these life-changing experiences as an #LDSMissionary in Italy. It's pretty emotional for Debbie and me because, as we've experienced with our other sons, we send our boy into the world, but that boy never returns. A man comes home. We know Josh will love the people of Rome, and they certainly will love him. #LDS #RomeItalyMission

One of the areas where we were helping clean this weekend. Couldn't believe how much everyone had to get rid of and cleanup from flood-damage. It was sad to see how so many people lost everything in Louisiana, but it was a privilege to get to go down with my church group and help out as part of Mormon Helping Hands. Thanks everyone for looking out for us and we'll keep sending our love to those who are still in the process of starting new! This has made me think twice about what really matters and what I could live without, as everyone here had to learn what they didn't need and what they did need to start moving forward. Appreciate what you have. I know I need to reconsider a lot of things as I've gotten caught up lately in "worldly things" that could easily be gone tomorrow and then I realize I really didn't need.

It reminds me of some verses in the New Testament:

"But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:20-21)

Happy Labor Day weekend y'all, and don't forget to appreciate the family and friends that you're around. I think amongst all the sales and trips that happen this Labor Day weekend they are who we ought to treasure the most. If you aren't going hungry, have a shirt on your back, have shelter, and loved ones around you show some gratitude today. #Louisiana #louisianaflood2016 #treasuresinheaven #labordayweekend #happylaborday #gratitude

In a post about the above video, "The Prayer," David Archuleta shared:

Christmas is always a time that gets me to constantly look upward. Recording this song and video with Nathan Pacheco has been a special way to remember where to keep our perspective as we draw closer to The One who watches us from above. It's amazing to see your response to the video for The Prayer! Thank you everyone for watching! Link is in bio and the song is available on iTunes. #ASaviorIsBorn #Christmas #ThePrayer

Along with the following video, Alex Boye shared:

HAPPY CONFERENCE WEEKEND!! One of the many things I learned as a returned missionary is this: Sometimes the nicest people are covered in tattoos, smoke pot, and drink beer. Sometimes the most judgemental people go to church every sunday and dress immaculate. What i'm trying to say is…Neither is perfect. Most especially me.

That is the beauty of Gods infinite atonement. There is room for ALL of us at HIS table. ISN'T THAT FREAKING AWESOME?????

Write in the comments what insights you learned from your mission, and where you served!! ( I served in the incredible England Bristol Mission). If you didnt serve, what is your mission now? (Mine is to flood the planet with music that lifts people)

Much love & thanks to all those who support my music. I LOVE YOU ALL!!
