There are always a lot of things to worry about. But about two years ago I heard President Hinckley say something about how fear is the opposite of faith. I had never thought of that before. I had always sort of thought being afraid was just being realistic–prepared for the worst. This idea about faith not including fear was a huge paradigm shift for me.
It was not without some hesitation that I sent my son to Dixon Jr. High yesterday. I went to Jr. high there, too. There’s really nothing wrong with it other than the girls who go there wear bras. And there are, probably, kids who drink and do drugs there. Also the possibility of hearing swearing. It is so frightening to send my son there. Think of everything he could potentially be exposed to! I always tell him to “choose the right,” but when it comes down to it–I prefer that choosing the right be the only option.
