Five Cougars selected in MLB draft

Five BYU baseball players were selected in the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft, with redshirt freshman Jacob Hannemann, a center fielder, headlining the list of Cougar draftees.

Hannemann was drafted in the third round by the Chicago Cubs, with the 75th overall pick.

Hannemann had been drafted once before, shortly after his senior year of high school. He was selected in the 48th round by the Kansas City Royals. Hannemann opted to serve a two-year LDS mission, then returned and red-shirted as a cornerback on the football team last fall before playing baseball this spring.
