Former BYU QBs to face off in NFL preseason game

Former BYU quarterbacks Max Hall and John Beck will likely play head-to-head in tonight’s sellout preseason matchup between Hall’s Arizona Cardinals and Beck’s Washington Redskins at University of Phoenix Stadium.

The two Cougar greats, and good friends, will meet privately before the game either way.

“He called me the other day to make sure that we get to see each other before the game,” Hall said. “It will be nice to get to catch up, and wish each other good luck.”

The two have plenty to talk about. Both are recent acquisitions to teams with four quarterbacks currently on the roster, and are fighting to secure backup spots come regular season play. Both will be playing in front of their families in the region once home to both, now only to Hall, secured by his signing with the Cards as an undrafted free agent in April.

“It’s gonna be a really fun night for John and I to play,” Hall said. “Hopefully we’ll get to where we’re playing at the same time, and get to go at it a little bit. Both of our families are here. It will be a special night for both of us, to be able to play in our hometown.”
