Framing a kiss: Has the media been fair?

If you read some media reports, particularly some in Utah, the controversial kiss on Salt Lake's Main Street Plaza and subsequent arrest are out of proportion and rely on misconceived framing.

If you missed the news, two men were arrested after LDS Church security guards spotted them kissing on the Main Street Plaza, owned by the church, on July 9. Eventually, Salt Lake City Police were called and the pair was arrested for trespassing. Since that time, two "kiss-in" protests were held near or on the Main Street Plaza because protesters feel the pair was mistreated.

Since the arrest, inaccurate and misleading media framing has emerged.
