Why would the Lord call HIM or HER? Just as surely as we have thought those words about others, someone may have thought them about us. We may not always know the exact reason someone was called at a given time. We don’t even need to. Elder Neal A. Maxwell reminded us that sometimes we encounter situations in Church service in which a pigeon seems to be supervising an eagle (Wherefore, Ye Must Press Forward, [Salt Lake City, UT: Deseret Book], 49).
One of the many things that sets our church apart from others is that we have no professional clergy. We don’t hire people to care for us and serve us. Rather, we care and serve each other. While this offers wonderful opportunities for growth, it can also present a few challenges.
