LDS Actor Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) Sends Video to Young Fan with Cancer

Twelve-year-old cancer patient and Napoleon Dynamite fan Mary Elizabeth got a surprise from the film's lead actor last week: a beautifully personalized video message wishing her well.

After hearing about his devoted fan's circumstances, Napoleon Dynamite star Jon Heder sent her a short film to tell her, "Good luck. Hang in there. You're gonna do awesome. And just listen to your heart, that's pretty much all I do."

It's that philosophy that doubtless lead Heder to create his touching message. He continues in the message, saying as he channels a Napoleon-esque spirit, "So I heard your nurses decorated your room and made it all gold. That's pretty much the best color of all time. All my nurses ever did for me was try and give me a root beer flavored lolly pop after shoving a needle in my neck meat. Aw, it killed!"

He concludes his short message with a classic Napoleon Dynamite-ism, the "butterfly lotus," made by linking thumbs and holding the hands upwards. He adds, "Anyways, I just want to bid you adieu with a presentation of the butterly lotus. Goodbye Mar! I'll see you around. Hope you do well."
