LDS Church working to contact missionaries in quake-devastated Japan

The LDS Church continues to assess the status of its missionaries serving in the Japan Sendai Mission following a massive, magnitude-8.9 earthquake that hit Friday off Japan's northeast coast. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reported Friday morning that with the exception of its Sendai mission, all missionaries were safe and accounted for.

The challenge with the six-dozen Mormon missionaries serving in the Sendai mission is downed communications.
