General Conference - Artists on Friday and Saturday

Friday, October 5
J. Kirk Richards

J.Kirk Richards will be launching his newly released book, The Nativity. Published by Deseret Book the 38 page book has 17 full page illustrations by Kirk, who will be on site (at the Flagship Gallery) to sign his book Oct. 5 and Oct. 6.

Known for his accomplishments as a painter of Judeo-Christian themes,  the majority of his themes stem from spiritual ideas and narratives. He continues to work in a surprising variety of styles, but most of his paintings exhibit a love for the human figure, general use of symbolism and metaphor, and an emphasis on lyric composition.

Saturday, October 6
J. Kirk Richards & Annie Henrie

Annie Henrie graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Brigham Young University in 2010. She has shown her work in galleries since the age of sixteen. Her work is currently shown at Bronze Coast Gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon, and Sage Creek Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In the ninth International Art Contest sponsored by the Church, Annie’s “Balm of Gilead” received a purchase award. Born in Manhattan, New York, Annie is the daughter of Cary, a well known illustrator and fine artist, and Sauni Henrie.

October 12
Garth and Anne Oborn

Anne Marie  accents her work with a sense of impressionism. She is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, A Founding Member of Inspirational Art Association, Project Compassion ( a group of four artists that paint the beloved Soldiers  free for their families)  and a Member of The Plein Air Painters of Utah. Some of the publications and books with her work have been The International Art Magazine, The Ensign, The Liahona, and A Mother's Love published by Deseret Book. She graduated from ISU, is the mother of four children and wife of artist Garth Oborn, known for his realistic oil paintings depicting the mountains of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. We are thrilled to have Garth join Anne as a double treat today!

October 19
Chris Young

Young’s art reveals two primary artistic influences: Zen art and design and early Spanish and Dutch still-life painters.  Chris  was born January 30, 1963.  He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1986. He received a BFA degree in Fine Arts and was honored as Summa cum Laude. “I am captivated by nature’s grand design. As we take time to carefully look at seemingly ordinary natural objects, an incredible beauty and harmony is revealed.” Today, Chris works in his Orem, Utah, studio where he enjoys the support of his wife and four active children. His paintings are sold through leading galleries in the West.
