December 7
James Christensen

Combining keen observation with an endless supply of imagination has become the hallmark of James C. Christensen, one of the world’s most beloved artists. For more than thirty years, he has been translating the world around him into masterful and inventive art. Today, he will be at the Flagship Art Gallery signing his new book: Passage by Faith. Published by Deseret Book, this collection explores the spiritual elements of his work and unveils the visual metaphors, symbols, and “meaning behind the meanings” of some of his most popular fantasy pieces, as well as a few gems that have never been printed before. Beautifully designed with more than 60 images and comments from the artist this is a book that art-lovers of all ages will treasure. The artwork of James C. Christensen is prized in collections worldwide. He has won multiple awards from the World Science Fiction Convention and the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists, as well as the UT Governor’s Medal for Fine Arts.

December 14
Sandra Freckleton Gagon

A preeminent realist painter, Sandy's paintings and drawings demonstrate her virtuosity, a manifestation of unparalleled technical excellence, which result in great works of lasting beauty. Sandy’s unsurpassed knowledge of anatomy, color theory and design, facilitate her portrayal of the human condition – in all its complexities – with breathtaking elegance. Adept at all genres, her still life paintings excel at depicting her deep love of objects and how they are affected by light and shadow; they are metaphoric landscapes of symmetry and solemnity. Sandy’s husband is writer, Dave Gagon. They have three children.

Monday, December 17
J. Kirk Richards

J. Kirk Richards will be signing his newly released book, The Nativity. Published by Deseret Book, the 38 page book has 17 full page illustrations by Kirk.  Known for his accomplishments as a painter of Judeo-Christian themes, the majority of his themes stem from spiritual ideas and narratives. He continues to work in a surprising variety of styles, but most of his paintings exhibit a love for the human figure, general use of symbolism and metaphor, and an emphasis on lyric composition. Richards' work is mostly found in private collections across the country.

Tuesday, December 18
Elizabeth Stanley

Elizabeth Stanley is a life long artist. Growing up in a family filled with artists, art has been a strong influence throughout her life. The love of painting has taken her abroad to study in Europe at the University of Neuchatel Switzerland. Elizabeth graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting and drawing. She has been a graphic designer and has experience in many other mediums, but has found oil painting to be her love. As a mother Elizabeth has found that her artwork has been enriched by those experiences that motherhood has offered to her.
