Lunch and Learn Series with Deseret Book Artists and Authors

Every Friday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Downtown Deseret Book Store, SLC, Utah

Feb. 22: Annie Henrie

Annie graduated in Illustration at Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah. She began selling paintings in galleries at the age of 16.  Some of the most influential experiences for her art have been living in England and Italy on study abroad courses. Her primary influence is from Pre-Renaissance masters, along with the feel of antiquity. Pre-Renaissance work has inspired a lot of the compositions, colors, and patterns she uses in her own work. Much of the art she does is figurative, primarily women and children in mixed media of acrylic, oil, charcoal pencil, and gesso texturing. More than anything she aims to create a window of peace in the attitudes and expressions of her figures, in which they mostly appear to be thinking.

Mar. 1: Anne Oborn

A native of Pocatello, Idaho, she graduated from Idaho State University with a bachelors of fine arts degree.  She was a scholarship recipient of Sergei Bongart, the famous Russian Traditionalist Impressionist who lived in Santa Monica.  Springville Museum of Art, BYU Utah, BYU Idaho, and Church of Jesus Christ Art Museum have her paintings in permanent collection.  Reproductions of her paintings have also been featured on book covers and in magazines.
