Lunch and Learn Series with Deseret Book Artists and Authors

Every Friday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Downtown Deseret Book Store, SLC, Utah

Mar. 15: David Lindsley

At age 11, he studied with legendary artist Jon Gnagy and later received art scholarships for college and university training. David has also studied with artists Daniel Greene and Tom Browning. From 8x10-inch miniatures to 8x10-foot murals, he works exclusively in oils and has created commissioned works for private collections, colleges, publications, and corporations.

Mar. 22: Mary Summerhays

Mary studied art at BYU and later apprenticed with J. Kirk Richards. Her watercolors often depict an Edenic garden, but are often infused with personality traits of her loved ones. But their spectrum is broad enough to include the Lord’s generosity to his children. She has received awards from Museums and competitions, and illustrated for documentaries on BYUTV, but she says, "nowhere is my art more meaningful than hanging in our home." Come hear her insights on art and religion at her lecture this month.

Men and Women of Faith Lecture: "Faith of Latter-day Sisters: A Personal Perspective"

March 14, 7 p.m., Church History Library, SLC, Utah

Julie B. Beck, former Relief Society general president, will be presenting her thoughts on the remarkable faith of Latter-day Saint sisters. While serving as general president of the Relief Society, Julie B. Beck had the opportunity of visiting with Latter-day Saint women throughout the world.  Experiences from the lives of these faithful sisters provide inspiration for all Latter-day Saint women, and their love of the gospel of Jesus Christ ties all women together as daughters of our Heavenly Father.
