"It’s a miracle," Halene Johnson says after she dialed the wrong number while in distress only to discover the man she called happened to be a police officer who helped keep her calm until help could arrive. "He’s my hero."
A week after Halene Johnson took a nasty fall by her bed, she got to meet her “hero,” the police officer who picked up the wrong-number phone call that Johnson says saved her life.
“Can I give you a hug?” Johnson asked West Valley City police detective Dana Pugmire, as they united in Johnson’s apartment Wednesday.
On Jan. 11, the 80-year-old dialed the wrong number in distress, and ended up speaking to just the right person, Pugmire, after she had fallen.
