LDS athlete makes leap to stardom at Nebraska

Playing the starting point guard position as a true freshman at the Division I level is a big deal. But starting at point guard as a freshman for one of the best teams in the nation is remarkable.

That's what the 5-foot-9 Lindsey Moore -- an LDS player from Covington, Wash. -- did at the University of Nebraska. The Cornhuskers finished their season in March with a record of 32-2 and a No. 7 final national ranking.

Considering Moore's competitive nature and athletic aptitude, her accomplishment may not be that surprising.

Although Moore participated in just basketball and track and field during her prep years, it could have been a lot more. Both the high school's volleyball and soccer coaches wanted Moore to play on their teams, but she knew that hoops was the sport she wished to focus on.
