LDS powerhouse stars in 'Wicked' down under

Each time Patrice Arkins opens her mouth, the passion in her voice leaves her audience mesmerized. Arkins played in the original Australian cast of the Broadway musical "Wicked" for almost a year. She understudied the role of Elphaba, the misunderstood Wicked Witch of the West, and performed in the ensemble. She has had many opportunities to perform Elphaba -- a powerhouse role, she said, "that definitely lets you know you're alive."

One of my dreams is to see "Wicked." I feel more alive from just listening to the music -- powerful songs like "Defying Gravity" and "For Good." I can't imagine what it must feel like to perform Elphaba's role and sing those songs for sold-out audiences.

Arkins said, "When I first began performing Elphaba it was the most exhausting and exhilarating thing I'd ever done!"

Arkins recently switched roles to be a mom and feels more alive than ever.
