Latter-day Saint trapeze artists Tyce and Mary Nielsen made it into the top 10 finalists for America’s Got Talent and will perform in the finale and on tour.
The married couple from Salt Lake City is incredible to watch as they fly through the air and support each other on the trapeze. But their journey hasn’t been easy, as Tyce has a progressive eye disease and is legally blind in one eye.

Just landed in LA! Thankful that my mom was able to come with us to babysit Jaxx so that he can be here with us ❤️ our next @agt performance is Sept 4th! #agt #agt13 #duotranscend #tyceandmary #maryandtyce #duotrapeze #circus #cirque #aerial #aerialist #gym #gymnastics #acrobatics #acro #fitness #hollywood #bodybuilding #nbc #dancers #husbandandwife #family #passion
This definitely adds to the danger of their already risky acts, but they both understand the possible negative outcomes and rely on each other for protection. Before their initial performance for AGT, the couple admitted that doctors warned them against performing on the trapeze. Despite this, they are confident in each other, and as Tyce said, “We’ve relied on the feeling and connection between each other.”
Tyce and Mary are also parents to their two-year-old son, Jaxx. It has been hard for them to be away filming and rehearsing for AGT, but they hope to continue their act and eventually get a show in Las Vegas.
Their AGT journey has had a few bumps along the way, including a terrifying moment when Mary’s ankle slipped through Tyce’s hand and she fell headfirst to the ground. Luckily, she had been trained to fall without getting hurt. They redeemed themselves in the next performance when they perfected their act in a suspenseful, blind-folded performance.
The couple is grateful for this opportunity and tweeted, “Words cannot express how thankful we are for all your support. We want to be an example of family values and pursuing your dreams even when there are bumps in the road. Thank you for believing in us. Without your votes we wouldn’t have made it into the finals of @AGT thank you.”
