Local paper in Illinois features bestselling LDS fiction writer Dean Hughes

When Elder Dean Hughes taught writing at what is now Central Missouri State University, he decided to practice what he preached.

Hughes wrote his own children's novels, eventually selling one to a national publisher and another to a Mormon publisher.

"I decided to take a year off and write full time," Hughes said. "That one year off ended up 17 years off."

His writing career has yielded nearly 100 books so far, written for both children and adults.
