The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the location of three new temples announced during the October 2019 General Conference.

Church Newsroom released the locations of the Orem, Utah; Taylorsville, Utah; and McAllen, Texas Temples in a press release on Wednesday morning.

The Orem Utah Temple will be located on a 16-acre site at approximately 1471 South Geneva Road. Plans call for a three-story temple of roughly 70,000 square feet, with a center spire. A 20,000-square-foot meetinghouse will also be built.

The Taylorsville Utah Temple will be constructed on a 7.5-acre site at 2603 West 4700 South. Plans call for a three-story temple of approximately 70,000 square feet, with a center spire. An existing meetinghouse on that site will be removed and will not be replaced.

The McAllen Texas Temple will be built on a 10.6-acre site located on the northwest corner of Second Street and West Trenton Road. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 25,000 square feet, with a center spire. An adjacent meetinghouse of just over 17,000 square feet will also be built on the site.

The McAllen Texas Temple will bring the total number of temples in Texas to five. The addition of temples in Taylorsville and Orem will bring the total number of temples in Utah to 23.

Elder Glen D. Mella, an Area Seventy who lives in Orem, told Church News the temples would be a monumental blessing.

“We are absolutely thrilled,” he told Church News. “We’ve been blessed to have access to temples in this area with temples in Provo and American Fork, but with the new growth in Utah County, there continues to be an opportunity for another temple.”
