Media picks TCU to win MWC; Cougars third in poll

Defending Mountain West Conference football champion TCU was predicted to capture its second consecutive title in 2010 in a poll of media members, announced today at MWC Football Media Day being held at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas. The Horned Frogs posted a perfect 8-0 record in Conference play in 2009, en route to a 12-1 overall record and a final national ranking of sixth in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches' polls.

TCU returns seven starters from a defensive until that led the nation in total defense for the second straight year, allowing 239.7 yards per game in 2009. Nine starters return on offense for the Horned Frogs, who ranked among the top five nationally in scoring and rushing offense a season ago. TCU is led by all-MWC performers Marcus Cannon (OL), Tank Carder (LB), Andy Dalton (QB), Wayne Daniels (DL), Ross Evans (PK), Cory Grant (DL), Jeremy Kerley (KR) and Jake Kirkpatrick (OL). The Horned Frogs garnered all 31 first-place votes and earned a total of 279 points.
