Mormons take stock: Culture emphasizes food storage

For years Mormon cuisine has been the brunt of jokes, mostly unfairly. Those jokes — about green Jell-O salads and cream-of-something casseroles — may once have held truth, but not so much anymore.

Mormonisms have come up for recent public examination, thanks to presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The truth is, just like many a politician on the issues, the Mormon culinary tradition is hard to pin down.
