The vernacular used by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other sects of Christianity can be confusing to those of different faiths. In a new video released by the Church, the role, origin, and ongoing existence of Apostles is explained.

A section of the video's description reads: "Apostles are witnesses of Jesus Christ and testify to all the world of His divine mission. Christ himself ordained 12 apostles during His earthly ministry. Today, 12 living apostles continue the same charge to teach and testify of Him."
