Perpetual Education Fund marks 10 years

This weekend's 181st Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints marks a milestone of sorts for a program that began 10 years ago.

During the Priesthood Session of the 2001 April General Conference, then-Church President Gordon B. Hinckley announced the Perpetual Education Fund.

It allows what Pres. Hinckley called "ambitious young men and women," mostly returned missionaries in otherwise impoverished situations around the world to borrow money for education.
