Philippine Ambassador Participates in Annual Washington DC Christmas Tradition

Wednesday evening at the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors' Center, Elder Jay E. Jensen of the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was joined by 21 ambassadors and other guests to kick off the 32nd Annual Festival of Lights.

Elder Jensen and the Philippine Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Willy C. Gaa, addressed those in attendance before throwing the switch to illuminate a half million lights on the temple grounds.

In his comments, Ambassador Gaa drew on the imagery of the lights and observed that "among these thousands shines one magnificent light for all to see. This is the symbolic glow that dispels darkness, gives warmth and brings hope."

WTOP, a local news radio station, reported on the event and provided a calendar of the performances and displays that will be a part of the season-long festival at the visitors' center.
