Playground Warriors

With an active toddler in my life, I have been happily re-introduced to the world of playgrounds. It has been so much fun to relive the sheer pleasure of whizzing down a slide, balancing a teeter totter, and hanging from monkey bars ‘til my armpits hurt. Seeing playgrounds through the eyes of my young daughter has made them all the more exciting.

One of the best parts of becoming reacquainted with playgrounds has been meeting and connecting with other women who are also out with their children or grandchildren. As I speak with women, I never cease to be amazed at how similar our anxieties and passions are regarding children and the world young people face. Topics of conversation can range from allergies to recalls; television shows to flu shots; Sippy cups to nap times; swimming classes to bullying; and online predators to school admissions.
