Professional group honors Elder Scott

Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles was presented the Visionary Leadership Award from the New York LDS Professional Association (NYLDSPA). The organizations' annual scholarship banquet, held on Friday, Oct. 9, brought professionals, as well as students who recently received scholarships from the organization, together to honor Elder Scott for his many great accomplishments.

The NYLDSPA is a group of professional members of the Church in the New York City area. A press release states their purpose is to "unite professionals of integrity, in order to promote the highest ethical, personal and professional standards among its members and their communities." The group provides service opportunities that extend internationally and focus their "values and resources to the most needy societies, while also serving local communities."

Speaking of the individuals who were mentors in his life, Elder Scott accepted the award as "recognition of their influence and devotion." He continued by addressing those who replenish the scholarship funds for students in need. "Your support will change their lives and open doors that they cannot pass through without your help," he said.
