Rebuilding shattered lives after devastating earthquake in Peru

It's morning recess at Chincha's Jose Carlos Mariategui primary school and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from hundreds of children relishing a few free moments from the rigors of the classroom.

Organized chaos.

On the far end of the schoolyard, boys by the dozen sprint up and down a dusty soccer field, darting in and out with the ball and daring anyone to get between them and the weathered goal posts. Little girls hold hands as they skip down the cement path that borders their two-storied red and white school. They stop long enough to swap the day's playground gossip and giggle.
