While no BYU player was picked in last weekend's National Football League draft — the first time that's happened since 1994 — the Washington Redskins apparently have big plans for former Cougar quarterback John Beck. The Washington Post reports that the Redskins passed up on available quarterbacks in the draft in large part because they are looking for Beck to assume a more significant role next season, perhaps as the starter. Beck was Washington's third-string QB last season. Beck was acquired in a trade with Baltimore last August. Rex Grossman is a free agent and Beck is the only quarterback on the roster assured to be with the Redskins in the fall.
