Well known LDS singer and songwriter Wayne Burton has just released a brand new song for youth titled “Rise and Shine." Written for the Church-wide youth theme “Arise and Shine,” this single calls to all of us, young and old, to step forward and upward in representing our Savior every day. In addition to the song being available for download, it has also been released as a free youtube.com video in four languages – English, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese.
“My music has been reaching a larger and larger audience over the past few years, but with this new release I hope to make a difference in more homes around the globe than ever before”, says Burton.
While he has a track record for including Spanish LDS music in his repertoire, Japanese and Portuguese are relatively new expansions.
“The need of church members for good current music isn’t limited to Utah or the US and Canada," he says, "and with the Internet it’s getting easier and easier to reach young people everywhere”.
Burton’s discography includes five solo albums, the most recent being his album Thankfully.Beyond being solo artist, Burton is also having a great year as a songwriter. For 2012 he has landed three of his songs on Deseret Books’ Shine – Songs For Youth 2012, one on this year’s EFY album and songs upcoming on the FM100 and Festival of Trees albums.
“Rise and Shine” is brand new and can be found at wayneburton.com and ldstunesnow.com in all four languages, along with sing-along tracks for local performances. See each of the four videos on YouTube including this featured English version below:
