Now in its 27th consecutive year and performed for more than a million people throughout the world, The Forgotten Carols has grown from a simple idea into a true phenomenon and Holiday tradition. Composer and writer Michael McLean’s original goal was to create a Christmas-themed collection of songs based around the stories of the “forgotten” characters in the Nativity. And from that initial album sprang the beloved story of Nurse Connie Lou and Uncle John, and their amazing spiritual message surrounding Christ’s birth.

“The messages in The Forgotten Carols are needed now more than ever,” remarked McLean. “They are messages of hope, support, and love. Christ came to teach us how to love, support and be kind to one another. In this time of divisiveness, I think we need a reminder of Christ’s lessons for us now more than ever.”

While the core of The Forgotten Carols has remained the same over the years, the story and performances continue to evolve to bring new elements and surprises for audiences who have seen it multiple times. This season features a new lead performer in the role of Connie Lou – veteran acclaimed performer Angela Jefferies – as well as some new story elements.

“I’m incredibly humbled to play the role of Connie Lou because she has become an absolutely iconic role,” Jefferies said. “The Forgotten Carols have become such a holiday tradition for so many families, I pray my rendition will do justice to all the amazing performances of Connie Lou before me.”

Jefferies has performed in musical theater throughout the U.S. and was a soloist at the world-famous Kennedy Center and enjoyed a long run as a featured performer on the Holland America Cruise Line.

New story elements for the 2018 season include several surprises McLean won’t divulge, but one major feature is the revelation of Uncle John’s real carol. “My son and I were working on this year’s rendition of the show and he came up with a brilliant idea I’d never even considered - Uncle John’s carol!” McLean remarked. “It adds so much to his character and explains why he and Sarah are so close, and that’s all I will say. Audiences need to come see it and I think they will love it just as much as I do.”

McLean’s initial productions spurred incredible demand for performances. Since then, thanks to the incredible popularity of The Forgotten Carols, the modest one-man show has grown into a major theatrical production and performed for more than a million people throughout the world over the past 27 years.

The Forgotten Carols 2018 schedule includes performances in Arizona, Idaho, and Utah beginning on November 20 with a preview performance in Heber City, UT. The official tour launches on November 24 in Idaho Falls, ID and concludes on December 22 in Murray, UT.

“I’m confident the 2018 tour will be our greatest ever!” said McLean. “This year’s performances will surprise and delight long-time fans with our new Connie Lou and new story elements, and first-timers will be welcomed with open arms into The Forgotten Carols family.”
