The inspiring story of a young widow

Their story seemed flawless.

They met while working at the Caine Dairy. He paid a co-worker to trade shifts with him, just so he could work with her.

He went on a Mormon mission to Birmingham, England. Seven months after his return, they were married in the Logan Temple.

They bought a house. She planned to be a stay-at-home mom someday. They were supposed to grow old and create memories — together.

Then came the knock on the door.

"Have you heard from Justin?"

On Sept. 26, 2005, eight Utah State University agriculture students and their instructor were killed near Tremonton after their van blew a tire, sending the vehicle rolling off the freeway.

Among those killed was Justin Gunnell. His wife of 21 months, Connie, was left behind to pick up the pieces of her life.
