Utah Attorney General wants Church to take immigration stand

Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, under fire from the GOP's right wing for his opposition to heavy-handed immigration measures, tells ABC4 News that he would like to see the LDS Church come out against Arizona's controversial immigration law.

“I think that would help stop an Arizona style law here, if they would definitely come out against the Arizona style law."

Shurtleff says that because the LDS Church has taken no official stand, it is being seen as supporting the new law because Arizona state Sen. Russell Pearce, a devout Mormon, was the sponsor.
