Vandals rig a Utah road sign with anti-God message near LDS Institute building

When considering weighty spiritual issues, some look toward the heavens. Wednesday morning, they could have considered a road sign.

The flashing construction sign on Foothill Drive near the University of Utah was broken into overnight and changed to read "God does not exist," said Utah Department of Transportation spokesman Adan Carrillo.

The sign, which usually flashes innocuous messages like "Expect delays" or "Slow down," is located near the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Institute building. It is part of a pavement rehabilitation project that stretches from 1300 East to Sunnyside Avenue.
