Vice President Joe Biden came to Utah to speak with experts from the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Intermountain Healthcare to discuss precision genomics research and Intermountain's recent work to develop a test to detect mutated genes in a cancer patient's DNA. These tests would allows researchers to build personalized treatments for cancer patients.

In January, President Barrack Obama selected Biden to head the White House's $1 billion initiative to cure cancer, partly because of his personal connection to the initiative. Biden's 46-year-old son Beau died of brain cancer last year.
