Visalia Church Holds First Sunday Service Since Bishop's Murder

More people than usual turned out for Sunday's service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Visalia. The group came together to try and take a big step forward. This following last week’s horrific incident where a Modesto man named Kenneth Ward walked into the church and shot 40-year-old Clay Sannar. Visalia Police later shot and killed Ward.

“Our stake leaders were there to speak to us. They gave beautiful messages of encouragement and love. The whole congregation has pulled together in an amazing way,” said Susan Wilson, an L.D.S. member.

Bishop Clay Sannar's wife, Julie and their six boys were in attendance. We're told Julie spoke out to offer words of thanks to church members and the community.
