This year the Church is inspiring millions around the world to celebrate this Christmas season by following the example of Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, and serving others. Unlike last year's #LightTheWorld, which provided daily service ideas, this year's campaign features weekly themes, videos, and corresponding service ideas for the week.
"Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, spent much of His ministry caring for individuals, one by one. Join us this Christmas as we follow His example and find ways to share our time, love, and resources with those in need," the Church's website reads.

The first week's theme focuses on how members can serve on a global scale, suggesting service ideas like helping refugees and donating to charities. "Jesus’s love knew no bounds. Discover ways to help someone in another part of the world," the website says. A great way to do this would be to use one of the Church's service vending machines in London, Arizona, the Phillippines, New York, and Temple Square to buy eyeglasses, water, goats, and more for those in need.
The second week focuses on the theme, "Needs exist all around us – some are just a little closer to home. Make the world a better place, starting in your own community. "
The theme for the third week is, "At the busiest time of the year, fill your home with light by serving those closest to you. "
And the final week asks people all over the world focusing on their faith: "By following the Light of the World, your faith in Jesus Christ will grow brighter and brighter." On December 23, members can invite their neighbors to join them for a special one-hour sacrament service.
In addition to these heartwarming and inspiring videos, the Church has provided FHE ideas for families and asks members to help kick off the holiday season with a day of service on December 1.
