In the Sermon on the Mount, “Jesus, in essence, breaks every perceived concept of what it means to be truly blessed or prosperous,” a new video by Daniel Smith of Messages of Christ explains. Instead of power, Christ teaches peace. Instead of glory, Christ teaches meekness. Instead of rigid rules, Christ preaches mercy and purity.
In this and many ways, our Savior's teachings are revolutionary and contradict popular beliefs, past and present. In addition to explaining how Jesus Christ contradicted popular beliefs during his time, the video explains the symbolism behind the imagery Christ uses in the Sermon on the Mount. For example, Jesus Christ's mention of salt harkens to the idea of purity and preservation, as salt was used in sacrifices to signify a lasting, pure sacrifice.
